April Ross
April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players who have earned medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third medal. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. At 39, it could be her last chance to do so. The athlete is optimistic she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross was quoted by NBC Boston as saying that if you play your top, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. Also, I am going put my faith in a touch of good luck. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and her sister were residents there. While at Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. She played basketball and ran the track as well as her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. However she was clearly a cut above the rest when it came to the second sport. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. The results of her efforts were acknowledged in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. In 2000, she won the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play in 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. It's true that she has won numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who won the world title together with Kessy in 2009, also was significant on the world stage. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they received a gold medal. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her college years before becoming a professional. Ross had an impressive run through the NCAA tournament. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year awards and was an All-American. Additionally, she was one of the key players for helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she experienced a terrible personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. Over her final two years within the team, she guided the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain winning three consecutive championships at the national level. The individual accomplishments of her have established her as a volleyball legend. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross who was who was a USC international relations major, was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the chance to watch her daughter grow into an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer while she was in her sophomore year at USC. She still holds her mother close to her heart. Margie has been an inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beach.
